General Questions
- What does ACC stand for?
ACC is simply an acronym for Animal Crossing Central, the name of this web site.
- What is the purpose of this site?
This site is primarily for the trading and giving away of items in Nintendo's Animal Crossing for the GameCube. It also, however, contains other information about the game, such as item descriptions and Universal Codes. Overall, it's a site where AC players can come to discuss the game, trade items, and gain other information about the game.
- Is this site compatible with all browsers?
Your browser must support both JavaScript and cookies (which most current ones do) in order for this site to work properly. Cookies are used to store your login information and JavaScript is used on several of the forms.
- Who runs this site and how was it made?
This site is maintained by myself, Dallas, with added support from a couple of other users. It was constructed in PHP using a text editor and uses MySQL for its database.
- Where can I find other info. on the site?
All site information can be found via links at the bottom of the left menu on all of the site's main pages. You can view the Contact Information page, review the Terms of Service or see the Credits to see who all has helped with the site.

Online Catalog
- How do I view my catalog of items in the game?
Visit Tom Nook in his shop and when you are presented with a menu of options, select "See my catalog" to view all of the items you've collected up to the present time.
- How do I add items to my online catalog?
Once you have registered an account and are logged into that account, click on the "Add an Item" link in the menu to the left of each page. Type in the name of the item you have and click the "Add Item" button to add it to your catalog.
Alternatively, you can view the item list by clicking the "Item List" link on the left menu and browse each item individually. If you don't already have the item in your catalog, there will be a link on the bottom of that item sheet to add it.
- How do I delete an item from my catalog?
If you scroll down to the bottom of your own catalog when logged in, you will find a "Delete Item" link which takes you to a list of your items where you can delete any or all of them.
- How do I change the look of my catalog?
When logged in, click on the link that takes you to the Update Colors page from your preferences page. If you know basic HTML color codes, you have the option of changing the colors used on your catalog. If not, there are links to pages which have some common color codes listed.
- Why doesn't my item count increase after adding certain items?
The total item count on your catalog reflects all listed items in the game. Thus, if you add an unlisted item from the game (i.e. insects, fish, etc.) your item count will not go up. Only items that are actually listed in your catalog in the game affect your total item count.
- How do I distinguish between the instrument and fish "Bass"?
Since there are two items of the same name in Animal Crossing (Bass), one being the fish and the other a string instrument, you must distinguish between the two when adding them to your online catalog. Enter "Bass" to add the instrument, and "Bass Fish" to add the fish.

Item Trading
- How does the Wish List work?
Every user has the ability to create a list of items which he/she wants but doesn't have. When items are added to this list, the user can see what other users have them and initiate a trade. Wish lists also serve for comparison purposes: when someone offers you a trade, your wish list will be compared with their catalog to see what items they have that you want.
- Trade offers: giving and receiving.
The trading process goes through three different phases: new trades, pending trades, and finished trades. You start with new trades. You can offer another user a trade in one of two ways:
- Through the wish list. View your wish list and click the 'Have List' link for an item to see what users have that item. You can then offer one of them a trade by clicking the 'Offer Trade' link.
- Through the catalog. Scroll down to the bottom of any user's catalog to find a search box. Type in the item you're looking for and click 'Search' to see if that user has it. If so, you can click the 'Offer Trade' link on the results page.
Once you've offered someone a trade or someone offers you a trade, it will show up under their/your list of New Trade Offers. All new trade offers will be deleted if they are not responded to within 72 hours.
- What are Pending Trades?
Once you make a trade offer to someone, they have to respond saying whether or not they accept or decline it. When they do so, that response will be listed on your Pending Trades list. From there, you can choose to accept or decline their counter-offer (i.e. what they want from you in return). Pending trades will be deleted after 1 week if not responded to.
- What are Finished Trades?
From your pending trades list, you can choose to accept or decline the user's counter-offer. If you accept it, you will have to enter the 28-letter password for their item. If you decline it, a notice will be sent to them saying so. Whether accepted or declined, all finished trades will be listed on your Finished Trades list.
If you are sent a password for an item, you must enter the password for the sending user's item in order to see yours. If you've already sent a password and are expecting one back, it'll also show up on your Finished Trades list.
- Leaving Feedback
To show appreciation for a trade well-done or warn other traders of scammers, you have the option of leaving feedback for the user you're trading with once the trade has been completed. It's not required, but you are encouraged to leave feedback for every trade you complete. You may leave feedback for up to 1 week after a trade has been completed; after that, it's too late.
- What are "Post-Trade Options"?
After a trade is successfully completed, you can go to the "Post-Trade Options" page via the link in the left menu. From here, you can choose to do one of three things:
- Leave Feedback: If you forgot to leave feedback right after the trade, you can do so here for up to one week after the trade was completed.
- Change Feedback: Here you can change neutral and negative feedback you have left for other users into positive feedback if the original was a mistake or you resolved the issue.
- Post Follow-Up: If you feel someone unjustly left you a neutral or negative feedback, you can respond to it here. This will not remove the feedback from your record, but will allow you to defend your reputation.

User-Related Questions
- What are "Preferred Users"?
Preferred Users are users of ACC who have donated at least $3 or more to the upkeep of the site. These users have access to additional trading and forum options for helping out with the site.
- How do I become a Preferred User?
You can be upgraded to a "Preferred User" by donating at least $3 to help with costs associated with the site. Once upgraded, you will remain a Preferred User as long as you choose to stay at ACC. For more information on donations, please review the Donation Policy in the Terms of Service.
- What additional features do Preferred Users have?
Preferred Users currently have access to the following features and options:
- Trade Log: Preferred Users will have access to a log of their current ongoing trades to keep track of what's been sent, what they're waiting for, etc.
- Code Saving: Preferred Users have the ability to save their item passwords after each successful trade for later viewing/use.
- Unowned Items: Preferred Users can view a list of the items they do not yet have on their catalog to make management and tracking much easier than manual comparison.
- Welcome Message: Preferred Users can post a short welcome message on their catalog for all visitors to see.
- Forum Privileges: Preferred Users can view posted URLs on the forums as clickable links instead of having to copy/paste the URL and may display a custom avatar at the top of their profile.
- Contest Entry: Preferred Users have 1 free entry (no cost of contest points) in each of the weekly contests.
- Why aren't all registered users listed on the "Members" page?
Only users who have something in their catalog (before the filtering went into effect) will be listed on the 'Members' page. The reasoning behind this is that most users only want to see members who are actively participating on the site. Thus, to ensure that only members who use the service are listed, users with empty catalogs have been filtered out. The "Total Registered Users" count, however, does reflect all registered users on the site (whether they have empty catalogs or not).
- How do I send Private Messages?
If you want to send another user a private message, you can either find one of their posts on the forums and click the "Send Message" link, view their profile and click the "Send Message" link or add them to your Buddy List and click the "Send Message" button.
- What are the Buddy/Block Lists for?
If you don't want a certain user to be able to send you Priviate Messages, you can add them to your Block List and they will no longer be able to. Conversely, if you want to send a PM to someone you know but don't want to look them up on the forums, you can add them to your Buddy List and click the "Send Message" link to send them a PM.

Universal Codes
- What are Universal Codes?
Universal Codes are item passwords that everyone can tell to Tom Nook or send to a Villager for a certain item rather than the password being name/town-specific. These Universal Codes have been found both by mistake (entering wrong codes during trades) and by players who go searching for them.
- How do I submit new Universal Codes?
If you have found a Universal Code or know of one that isn't listed on the site, you can submit it to be posted. Once submitted, the code will be checked for authenticity and, if good, will be posted on the site.
- How do I use Universal Codes?
If the code is one that must be told to Tom Nook, go to Nook's shop, talk to him and select "Other Things" followed by "Say Password". Enter the Universal Code and Nook will present you with the item.
If the code is one that must be mailed to a villager, start a new letter and on the first line type a key symbol. The code can then be entered on the next two lines and the letter sent to any villager in your town. The next time your mail is delivered, you should receive the item in your mailbox.
- Isn't using Univeral Codes considered wrong?
It depends on how you view the issue. Some players feel that using Universal Codes is the same as cheating, as you are getting items that you weren't meant to get because of a glitch in the game. Others argue that it is not cheating because you are simply entering codes as the game intended. Then there are those that don't really care either way.
If you feel UCs are wrong, don't use them and attain your items through trading. If not, use as many as you'd like. The sole reason they are listed at ACC is to provide the information for those that seek it.

- Donating: How to and why it helps.
If you'd like to donate to this site, you may do so by clicking the "Make a Donation" button on the menu to the left of any page. Since this site has nothing that generates revenue (i.e. advertisements), any additional charges that I incur due to exceeding the monthly bandwidth limit have to be paid by me. With the size of the catalogs and number of users growing each day, the site is continually going over its allotted monthly bandwidth.
Donations are not required to use this site, and nobody will lose any privileges should they choose not to donate, but if you like the site and want it to stay around, donating just a couple of dollars really helps. If you donate $3 or more, you will automatically be upgraded to a Preferred User.
- Why can't I view the AC Forum?
You must be a registered user and you must also be logged in to your account in order to view any of the forums here at ACC..
- I have a question/problem not listed here.
If you need help with something that has not been listed in this help section, you can either e-mail me, or post on the Site Discussion board if you are logged in. Suggestions and comments are always welcome as well.
- What is the "Offer Throttle"?
On your Preferences page, you will find an "Offer Throttle" option. This allows you to set a fixed number of new trade offers you prefer to receive in one day. For example, if set to 5, you will only be able to receive 5 new trade offers per day. If set to 0, your trades will be turned off, and if left blank, there will be no limit to how many you can receive in one day.
- What are "Contest Points" and "Forum Points"?
There are two types of points you can earn at ACC: contest points and forum points. Both are earned at the same time in the same way, but the difference is that contest points are used to enter the site's weekly contests (now defunct), whereas forum points stay the same.
These points can be earned by visiting the forums at least once per day and by making intelligent/informative posts on the forums.
- Where can I find more information on the weekly contests?
The weekly contests are no longer running. They may be replaced by another feature in the near future, however.
- Why isn't my house listed as the "Current Top Rated" if it's rated the highest?
Your house must be showcased for at least 48 hours before it is eligible to be featured as the "Current Top Rated" house. The reasoning for this is that if a newly displayed house gets a couple of votes with high ratings, it's not necessarily correct to call it more highly rated than one with 100+ votes and a similar rating.
